Are you going to countries like Egypt, India as a tourist?
Before you go, read the Happy Horses Holiday Code and prepare yourself, especially mentally. You will risk seeing a lot of animals which suffer terribly, also in tourist areas.
Some think that animal suffering is easy to solve, for example with money.
No, it is not.
Some think the animal suffering means that our Brooke-vets are failing or, even worse, that they are to blame!
No, they are not.
Our vets work tirelessly to find solutions to end the suffering of horses, donkeys, mules, and other working animals. The fact that there still is suffering does not mean that the Brooke-vets and other animal charities are failing. Progress is slow. It will take generations for animal owners, users, and tourists to change their behavior. But the situation is getting better for the animals!
Yes, it is.

Before you go, make up your mind if you want to be part of the problem, or of the solution. Try to understand the complexity of the local situation, and support and encourage local animal charities. Take pictures of the animal suffering you witness, write down the location, and report to the local Tourist Board.
